What is a Multilingual Education Virtual Parent Focus Group Series?
A Multilingual Education Virtual Parent Focus Group Series is a 90-minute evening conversation with fellow parents NYCPS staff, where you'll have the opportunity to:

  • Share your experiences of the first two years your child participated in a bilingual education. English as a New Language, world, or heritage language program
  • Reflect on what you needed most at the beginning of your journey
  • Offer insights about how schools and communities can better support families like yours
  • Help identify helpful tips, key questions, and messages for new parents entering these programs
Why Participate?
Your voice will directly shape a new parent-to-parent resource booklet designed by parents, for parents. This booklet will:
  • Help guide newly enrolled families in bilingual education programs
  • Provide culturally and linguistically relevant support and encouragement
  • Celebrate the strengths and assets of multilingual families and learners
Who Can Apply?
We welcome parents or guardians of children currently enrolled in bilingual education, English as a New Language, or Heritage programs, especially those who:
  • Have a home language of an NYCPS bilingual education program (Arabic, Bengali, Chinese, Haitian Creole, Japanese, Italian, Polish, Russian, Spanish, Yiddish)
