This survey is being conducted on behalf of the Los Angeles County Public Defender's Office. We want to better understand what people know about their criminal legal rights and what information would be most helpful to our community.
What is a Public Defender? A public defender is a licensed attorney — a lawyer —who represents people who have been accused of committing a crime. Public defenders work on behalf of the people they represent, in defense against prosecution and local law enforcement.
Your Responses: We ask that you answer each question based on your own knowledge and experience. Your honest responses are what matter most.
A Note on Legal Advice: This survey is for informational and research purposes only. Nothing in this survey constitutes legal advice, legal counsel, or legal guidance of any kind. Nothing in this survey creates an attorney-client relationship. If you have a specific legal situation, please contact a licensed attorney or your local public defender's office directly.
