- Are residing outside of the school boundary and need transportation setup.
- Are residing within school boundary and residing in a shelter, transitional housing program or hotel/motel and need transportation setup.
- Need to change or cancel existing MKV transportation services.
If there are PWCS MKV students in the family who need different transportation plans (i.e. different pick up or drop off addresses, different dates of service), a separate form will need to be completed for those students.
NOTE: Transportation requests which extend outside of Prince William County will be assessed for possible services on a case-by-case basis. We cannot provide transportation outside of Virginia and we have extremely limited, very short-term possibilities for surrounding jurisdictions due to a driver shortage depending on the details of the housing situation.This form can be completed by school staff, parent, legal custodian, caregiver/sponsor, homeless unaccompanied youth student or shelter/transitional housing staff. After a student is approved for MKV (and actively enrolled in school), the MKV office will then be able to submit the transportation request to the PWCS Specialized Transportation Team. After the team receives that request from the MKV office, then it takes the team 3-5+ workdays to develop a plan and start transportation services.
If the student moves, you will need to submit a new MKV Transportation Request Form to cancel the current plan and request a new plan be developed for the new address. Please remember, after the PWCS Specialized Transportation Team receives the request from the MKV office, it will then take another 3-5+ workdays for the new plan to be developed.
Transportation will attempt to route a school bus first and if that is not available, then a private vehicle service will be used, if feasible and if available.
Transportation that is not utilized on a consistent and/or timely manner will be cancelled. If transportation is cancelled and if the student is unable to attend school regularly and on-time, this could result in a best interest decision by the MKV Liaison for the student to transfer to local school where transportation is already setup
If the student misses school due to lack of transportation while the team is developing a plan, please notify the student's school so they may excuse those absences.
PWCS will make a good faith effort to arrange transportation, when the MKV Liaison determines it to be feasible.
