The Kansas Safe Routes to School (SRTS) Academy aims to increase the number of individuals across Kansas with SRTS expertise and the skills to make their communities safer and more comfortable for students to walk, bike, and roll to school.
Academy participants will join a cohort of individuals from government agencies, schools, community groups, and other organizations from across the state to learn about the national and local SRTS movement, the Kansas SRTS program, available resources and funding, community engagement strategies, and practical tools for working with students, schools, and communities. The Academy will also provide leadership and communication training to help participants engage school and community leaders and learn from experienced SRTS advocates.
Program Commitment: January–September 2027. Selected participants should plan to spend approximately 2–4 hours per month on virtual workshops, assignments, and individual meetings with the Kansas SRTS Coordinator.
Application Deadline: Friday, December 11, 2026
