Place Naming and Public Memorial Policies Survey

Introduction

We are inviting community feedback on our draft Place Naming and Public Memorial Policies. These policies help guide how roads, features and localities are named, and how public memorials are considered across the municipality.

The Place Naming Policy sets out how Council manages place naming in accordance with legislation and naming rules. Well-chosen place names help people find locations easily, support emergency services, and ensure efficient delivery of goods and services.

The Public Memorial Policy guides how public memorials are assessed and managed. It supports respectful and meaningful commemoration while ensuring public spaces remain accessible and valued by the community.

Have your say by completing the short survey below between 5 November - 3 December 2026.
