2026-2027 Foothills Intermediate Module Application

Welcome to 2027 Foothills Intermediate Module Applications!

We, the Foothills Climbing Committee, are glad you're applying for the Intermediate courses and look forward to instructing and climbing with you this season.

On this page you will select the course(s) you wish to apply for. Additional questions and information will be required to complete your application.

Please note the following prerequisites:

Leading on Trad:
  • Graduate of a Basic Alpine climbing course or Basic Climbing equivalency; or Graduate of Alpine Scrambling AND the Intro to Alpine Rock course
  • Minimum 1 season experience lead climbing on single pitch bolted routes, preferably outdoor on real rock.
Winter Mountaineering & Advanced Crevasse Rescue
  • Graduate of a Basic Alpine Climbing Course, Basic Equivalency, Basic Glacier Travel, or Ski Glacier Travel and Crevasse Rescue
  • Followed/participated on at least 3 glacier climbs

Due to the number of applications we normally receive each year, applications with missing information will immediately be rejected. We are also not going to be accepting applicants who do not meet the minimum qualification just to fill the published number of students.  To this end, application link may remain active beyond the initial deadline of October 15th if the spots are not filled by applications from the initial batch.

The Foothills Climbing Committee is committed to building and fostering a representative climbing community that reflects the spaces in which we live and recreate. We recognize that outdoor recreation has historically excluded communities of color, women, and LGBTQ+ people. Hence, we strongly encourage applications from people with these identities or who are members of other underrepresented communities.

***Please do not sign up for the course unless you can attend ALL course components ***

  • Essay question - Favoring those with values that align with the Mountaineers'
