The American College Counseling Association will be electing the following positions during this election:
- President-Elect
- Treasurer
- Member-at-Large (Professional Advocacy)
Please find information below in regards to each position:
President-Elect (3 year term): The scope of the President-Elect is twofold: to become prepared in all areas of the Association’s work entrusted to the office of the presidency, and to provide leadership in the areas outlined in the ACCA Policies and Procedures Manual. Responsibilities also include serving as the Conference Committee Chair for the next annual conference.
Preferred Qualifications: Demonstrated leadership in ACCA including serving on the ACCA Board of Directors, as an ACCA Committee Chair, or in significant and active state division leadership.
Treasurer (2 year term): The scope of the Treasurer position is to oversee ACCA’s financial health. Responsibilities include budget development, reviewing audit statements and disbursements, presenting financial reports to the leadership and membership, and representing ACCA’s budget to the American Counseling Association.
Preferred Qualifications: Demonstrated leadership in ACCA, to include active involvement at the state or national levels.
Member-at-Large - Professional Advocacy (3 year term): This person will support the promotion and advocacy of the Association through service as liaison to the Public Awareness and Professional Advocacy (PAPA) and Social Media Committees.
Preferred Qualifications: Demonstrated leadership in ACCA, and understanding of the functions of ACCA by having served on ACCA committees, offices, or state college counseling associations.
Election Process
ACCA follows the elections procedure and timeline of the American Counseling Association. Selected candidates will be submitted to ACA. Required paperwork will be submitted by the candidate through guidelines provided by ACA. All newly elected positions begin July 1, 2027.
Expectations & Commitments
Elected officers are expected to fulfill assigned duties per the ACCA Policies and Procedures Manual and actively participate in:
- Monthly virtual Board meetings
- Annual ACCA Board Leadership Retreat (July)
- Annual ACCA Conference (February/March)
- Annual ACA Conference (Spring – Presidential track only)
Note: Travel is required for in-person meetings (air travel is standard unless pre-approved by the ACCA President). Registration, travel, and lodging expenses are generally reimbursed per the ACCA travel policy (under the ACCA travel policy, cost saving practices may limit some expenses).
