Committee on Astrobiology and Planetary Science - Request for Public Input on Planetary Research Program Metrics

NASA requested that the Committee on Astrobiology and Planetary Sciences (CAPS) of the National Academies prepare a short report to identify metrics by which the NASA Planetary Research Program can evaluate the health and effectiveness of its research and analysis program in accomplishing decadal science objectives. The statement of task is available on the project website.

To aid in information gathering and to ensure the Committee receives input from as many stakeholders as possible, we have created this short form to gather anonymous input to CAPS. The Committee will read all relevant submissions to this survey. This project is subject to Section 15 of the Federal Advisory Committee Act (FACA) and all relevant submissions that are reviewed by the committee will be placed in our Public Access File (PAF). Your submission may not include ITAR restricted data or other sensitive materials. Please do not include any personally identifiable information, for yourself or others, in the form.

Responses that do not address the Statement of Task will not be considered.
Career State
Institutional Type (select all that apply)
How much of your individual salary is funded by an external source (e.g., grant, contract, cooperative agreement)?
How many researchers/students are you supporting (other than yourself) using an external source (e.g., grant, contract, cooperative agreement)?
NASA gathers the following cover page data about submitted proposals, and these are available for use in evaluating the Planetary Science Division research and analysis program. For each of these, how well do these options accurately reflect the breadth and participation of the community on a scale of 1 (not at all) to 5 (very well)?
