Our ideaLAB Makerspaces are always looking for ways to improve and to ensure that our spaces are welcoming to community members with disabilities. To help us identify the things we are doing well as well as the things we can improve on, the Denver Public Library is seeking voluntary participation from Denver adult residents who identify as having a disability.
We are looking to recruit 10 adults with disabilities to participate in a user testing exercise. We will be requesting that participants:
- Attend a virtual ideaLAB orientation meeting on Friday, October 23rd from 11am-12pm.
- Visit either the Central Library or Rodolfo Corky Gonzales Branch Library ideaLAB between October 25 and November 8, 2026 for a period of 1-2 hours.
- Respond to a digital survey sharing your experiences within 2 days of visiting the ideaLAB.
- Attend a virtual debrief meeting on Thursday, December 3rd from 2 - 4pm.
Participants will receive a $100 gift card to King Soopers after completing the survey.
By participating in this study, generally there is a minimal risk of harm, but it increases if you choose to use power tools, hobby knives, or soldering irons located within the ideaLAB or do not follow Library staff instructions. Please note that due to size of the user testing group and the nature of the questions we are asking, your answers may not be anonymous but they will be kept confidential.
We will select Denver adult residents with a disability, and we are looking for a variety of different disabilities represented. Please submit an interest form by October 20th to be considered. You will hear from us on October 21st with our decision over email.
If you would like to respond to this form in another language, please reach out to inclusion@denverlibrary.org. Participating in this study in another language is available by request.
