Exploring potential for a new Section

What this survey is about

About this survey

The New Zealand Law Society Te Kāhui Ture o Aotearoa is seeking your views on whether to establish a new section. The survey should take around 15 minutes to complete.

Sections are specialist membership communities that bring together lawyers working in specific practice areas or professional contexts. Sections support their members through a combination of professional development, information, networking, representation and influence, law reform, and leadership on issues relevant to their area or context.

Currently, the Law Society has three sections:
  • Family Law Section – for family law practitioners.
  • Property Law Section – for property law practitioners.
  • In-house Lawyers Association of New Zealand (ILANZ) – for lawyers working in-house across public, private and not-for-profit organisations.
This survey seeks your views on four areas
  • Where there may be unmet needs across the profession.
  • Whether a new section could help meet those needs.
  • The areas of the profession in which there may be demand.
  • The services and activities that members would value.
Privacy and confidentiality

This survey is exploratory and your responses will be considered alongside other research and stakeholder engagement. Together, the findings will inform options for the Law Society to consider and to decide whether to establish a new section.
  • All survey responses are anonymous.
  • All survey responses will be collected by MartinJenkins initially for the purpose of producing reports only.
  • These reports and your responses will be used only to inform options for the Law Society to consider about establishing a new section.
