NFPA 70E Electrical Safety in the Workplace Session One - 8:00 - 10:30

This in-person course is designed to familiarize your staff with NFPA 70E. The Standard for Electrical Safety in the Workplace, 2027 edition. 

This course will train you in the CAL/OSHA Electrical Safety Orders and NFPA 70E Standard for Electrical Safety in the Workplace, 2027 edition and provide training in the principles and techniques to protect against electric shock and arc flash hazards.

We will discuss the recent changes to the CAL/OSHA standards, so you clearly understand what is required by law and compare CAL/OSHA standards to NFPA 70E, and you will learn the most important word in electrical safety!  We will cover the change in focus from Hazard to Risk, Electrically Safe Work Condition, Personal Protective Equipment, Shock Protection, Arc Flash Protection, Approach Boundaries, Safe Work Practices, Equipment Labeling Requirements, and other changes in the 2027 edition.
Course Objectives:  To have each student understand and be able to apply the CAL/OSHA and NFPA 70E standards as they pertain to their electrical work assignments.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of shock and arc flash hazards.
  • Understand incident energy levels and the selection of personal protective equipment appropriate for the risk assessment.
  • Know the approach boundaries for shock and arc flash and the new tables for shock and arc flash protective clothing.
  • Understand the new labeling requirements for electrical equipment.
  • Understand and develop electrical safe work practices.
Course Content
  • Electrical hazards: shock, arc flash, arc blast, and electrocution risks.
  • Risk assessment and hazard analysis: evaluating electrical systems before work begins.
  • Safe work practices: lockout/tagout (LOTO), PPE selection, and establishing electrically safe work conditions.
  • Regulatory standards: understanding NFPA 70E 2026 edition and its relationship to OSHA safety requirements.This in-person course is designed to familiarize your staff with NFPA 70E. The Standard for Electrical Safety in the Workplace, 2027 edition.
