2027 Community Fellowship Application

Application Instructions

Thank you for your interest in the ESIP Community Fellows Program. Community Fellows develop community-centered leadership skills through hands-on participation in an ESIP Collaboration Area, mentoring, peer learning, and engagement with the broader Earth science data community.

Year 1 emphasizes collaboration, facilitation, communication, interdisciplinary engagement, belonging, and professional networking. Some Fellows may later apply to continue into a second year focused on visible leadership and career progression; Year 2 continuation is a separate decision and is not guaranteed at initial selection.

Before you apply:

Review the full program guidelines, participation expectations, stipend and contractor information, and application timeline.
Review ESIP Collaboration Areas and identify up to three that connect with your interests and growth goals.
Draft your responses in a separate document before submitting the online form.
Responses will be evaluated for the substance and specificity of the evidence provided, not for polished prose or prior access to formal leadership opportunities.

All applications will be reviewed following the submission deadline of November 9, 2026. Any applications received after that date will not be considered. For those selected to move to the next stage of the application process, virtual interviews will be conducted in mid-November.
