DESE AI Community of Practice

The DESE K-12 AI Community of Practice (AICoP) is a yearlong learning and implementation initiative for Massachusetts school-system leaders and educators (i.e., Public, Charter, CTE, Approved Special Education, and Collaboratives).

Separate leader and educator tracks, combined with periodic cross-role sessions, will help participants interpret and apply Massachusetts K-12 AI guidance; strengthen AI literacy; develop responsible local policies, practices, professional learning, and classroom expectations; and learn from implementation across varied contexts. The AICoP will address topics from the MA AI Guidance, including privacy, safety, security, bias, transparency, accessibility, academic integrity, misinformation and deepfakes, tool vetting, instructional quality, governance, and continuous improvement. Participant-generated use cases and feedback will inform future statewide resources, guidance, and support.    

Share this opportunity and join with colleagues! Everyone is welcome. Schools and districts are encouraged to have multiple educators and leaders join, when possible, but joining as an individual is completely acceptable as well. Participating with your district colleagues creates opportunities to continue the work between sessions, support one another, and put new ideas and practices into action locally.

The one-hour virtual monthly meetings will be held on Tuesdays. 
Save the dates: 3 pm (educators) and 4 pm (administrators). 10/20, 11/10, 12/08, 01/12, 02/09, 03/09, 04/13, 05/11, 06/08.

This may include superintendents, assistant superintendents, principals, assistant principals, directors, coordinators, curriculum directors, department leaders, and other individuals responsible for overseeing programs, personnel, policies, resources, or instructional priorities.

Educators: Individuals whose primary role involves teaching, instructing, supporting, or facilitating student learning. This may include classroom teachers, special education teachers, interventionists, instructional specialists, counselors, librarians/media specialists, paraprofessionals, and other school-based professionals who work directly with students or support their learning.
