ECI Compliance Week and Diligent partnered to conduct this survey of professionals whose roles include third-party risk management, to help understand the state of third-party integrity risk management from a stakeholder perspective. The research is to inform industry understanding of the ways that organizations structure, manage, and advance third-party programs. Effective third-party risk management is a critical pillar of strong governance, risk, and compliance programs.
The new insights and benchmarks from the survey will help to provide practitioners, leaders, and regulatory authorities with a shared understanding of the state of TPRM, to reveal areas of opportunity, and to improve practices, policies, and governance of TPRM.

2. How was I selected – and how does the survey work?
This is a survey of professionals whose responsibilities may include third-party risk management including, but not limited to, Chief Risk Officers, Chief Compliance &/or Ethics Officers, directors and managers of risk management or third-party risk, and others involved in conducting third-party due diligence or review. Participants have been invited to the online survey via email or accessed the survey through an anonymous link. The survey is being conducted via a secured website.
Emailed invitees: Emailed participants have received a unique survey URL via email. Unique identifiers are used to ensure confidentiality and that participants only take the survey once.
Generic survey link: Individuals who work in risk management, finance, procurement, ethics & compliance, or other related field, and who qualify based on screening questions might have come across the generic survey link providing them an opportunity to participate in the survey.
3. What if I want to go backward in the survey and change an answer?
The survey allows you to go backward if you would like to change an answer, simply select the
Back button at the bottom of the page.
4. Definitions
Please use the following definitions when answering questions.
Third-Party Risk Management (TPRM) refers to the end-to-end set of processes and controls that organizations implement to manage risk throughout the lifecycle of third-party relationships.
Due diligence is part of the broader TPRM life cycle and refers to the steps an organization takes to thoroughly investigate and verify an entity before initiating a business arrangement, whether that’s with an upstream supplier or a downstream distributor, broker, customer, etc.
Artificial intelligence (AI) refers to computer systems that can perform complex tasks normally done by human reasoning, decision making, creating, etc. AI also includes AI tools, applications or software programs that leverage AI models and algorithms to perform a specified task.
Responsible use of AI refers to the structured oversight and management of AI systems to ensure they are deployed lawfully, ethically and in alignment with organizational values, with clear accountability, risk controls and ongoing oversight to prevent harm. Pertains to operationalizing AI's ethical and lawful use.
5. Is this survey confidential?
Yes; each survey response is confidential. Survey responses will only be reported in the aggregate and cannot be traced to any individual.
6. What will happen after the survey?
After responses are summarized, ECI Compliance Week and Diligent will publish a report that will be shared through different channels.
7. What if I need to exit the survey before finishing?
To those who were invited via email and provided a unique link. If you need to exit the survey before finishing, simply exit the site and your answers will automatically be saved. To return, just follow the link within your email invitation, or re-enter your unique URL in the Internet browser bar and you will arrive at the last question you answered.
To those who accessed the survey via the generic link, please complete the survey in one sitting. If you exit before finishing, you will not be able to return to the same survey. Clicking on the link again will open a new survey.
