2026 CMA House of Delegates - Council Reference Committee Solicitation

That Council Reference Committee (CRC) members are expected to exercise independent judgment and develop recommendations based on the best interests of the California Medical Association as a whole, rather than advocating for the interests of a particular specialty, delegation, employer, or constituency.
That CRC members are expected to approach assigned matters with an open mind, thoughtfully consider member testimony and differing viewpoints, and be willing to modify their views based on the evidence and deliberations.
That CRC members are expected to review the assigned Council's Preliminary Report and supporting materials prior to Annual Session, monitor member testimony, and arrive prepared to participate fully in the Committee's work.
That CRC members are expected to work collaboratively, professionally, and respectfully with fellow Committee members and staff.
That appointment to a CRC carries an expectation that I will participate in the required orientation, attend the assigned hearing, participate in the Committee's deliberations, and fulfill the responsibilities of the appointment throughout Annual Session.
If appointed, I will be asked to recuse myself from deliberation on a matter in which I have a significant conflict of interest, including authorship or principal advocacy of an assigned resolution.
That CRC deliberations occur while the House is in session, and that I will not be available to participate in the Saturday PM session, or until my CRC has completed its deliberation.
