Training Description
Mental Health America of Hawaiʻi is pleased to offer a Youth Mental Health First Aid training. Participants who complete this training will be certified in Youth Mental Health First Aid and able to immediately use these skills for those in need.
 
The YMHFA training:
  • Is an 7.5-hour course that gives people the skills to help an adolescent (age 12-18) who may be developing a mental health problem or is experiencing a mental health crisis
  • Is an evidence-based program that helps participants grow their knowledge of signs, symptoms and risk factors of mental illnesses and addictions
  • Produces greater confidence in providing help to others, greater likelihood of advising people to seek professional help, improved concordance with health professionals about treatments, and decreased stigmatizing attitudes
  • Randomized studies show that people who go through this program have increased mental wellness themselves
Details for the YMHFA training being offered are as follows:
This course will be conducted in an online format. Participants will complete an online 2-hour self-paced Youth Mental Health First Aid Introduction Course followed by an live online instructor-led 5.5-hour Youth Mental Health First Aid Skills Application Course.
  • Introduction Course (2-hours) self-paced online. Participants must complete this course by September 10, 2026 4:00 pm

This training is limited to 30 participants
