Why Missions at an AiG conference?

This is not a motivational or guilt-you-into-missions breakout session. Instead, this is a breaking-new-research-for-missions session—brand new tools from scientific research based on Genesis 1-11 that will be useful to missionaries around the globe.

Who is this breakout session for?

We have two groups in mind: (1) Missionaries currently on the field and (2) anyone connected to missionaries on the field. We don’t expect many from group (1) to be present. After all, they’re busy on the field doing missions work! Our main hope is to equip group (2)—who then can communicate these breakthroughs to missionaries that they know.

“New Tools for Missions: Creation research uncovers exciting links between tribes and biblical history"

Recent DNA research has uncovered a replica of the Genesis 10 genealogy at the root of the DNA-based tree for humanity. This talk shows how every people group on earth can connect their history back to specific men listed in Genesis 10. It also shows how this research has opened doors to unbelievers in first-world context, Islamic contexts, and indigenous peoples contexts. Practically, these results set the table for an array of new tools to bring the gospel to the unreached around the globe.

"Creation Apologetics: Essential for Missions Everywhere!"

Creation apologetics is not just important for the church in America. It is important in every country because Genesis 1-11 is foundational to the gospel and building strong healthy churches. Also, evolution and millions of years are taught as scientific fact in every country and are the single greatest barrier to believing the gospel and those scientific claims undermine the truth and authority of Scripture. To be effective in evangelism and discipleship, all missionaries need to deal with these issues at least at a basic level. Pastors and supporting churches should help to educate and equip missionaries to do that. Dr. Mortenson will share out of his experience of serving for 20 years as a missionary in England and Eastern Europe (both before and after the fall of communism) and lecturing on creation and evolution in 38 countries since 1979 and out of his knowledge of the damaging impact of American and British evangelical scholars who have polluted the global church with compromised old-earth views of Genesis 1-11.
