NPR's Office of Diversity is excited to launch a new collaboration with Bowie State University, Morgan State University, and Howard University through Public Radio Immersion Day, scheduled for Friday, October 2, 20216.
Public Radio Immersion Day is designed to introduce Historically Black College or University (HBCU) journalism and communications students to the people, purpose, and possibilities of public radio. This initiative will give students an opportunity to engage with NPR leaders and staff, learn about careers across public radio, share their perspectives on NPR content and platforms, and see how their voices, talents, and lived experiences can help shape the future of our work.
Public Radio Immersion Day is intended to be more than a one-day event. It is the beginning of a deeper relationship between NPR and students and faculty at universities across the country.
Through this initiative, NPR hopes to continue learning from students, strengthening pathways into public radio, and creating opportunities that support the future of trusted journalism, storytelling, and public service.
As public radio continues to evolve, relationships like this help ensure that NPR remains connected to the communities, voices, and future leaders who will shape what comes next.
