Calling HBCU Alumni Across the NPR Network Fall 2026

NPR's Office of Diversity is excited to launch Public Radio Immersion Day, a new initiative designed to introduce students from Historically Black Colleges and Universities to the people, purpose, and possibilities of public radio. In early fall, NPR will partner with Bowie State University, Morgan State University, and Howard University to bring HBCU journalism and communications students to NPR’s Headquarters for a conversation with NPR leaders, journalists and staff. Students will have the opportunity to learn about careers in public radio, share feedback on NPR content, and see how their talents and perspectives can help shape the future of public radio.

As part of this initiative, we want to highlight the many HBCU alumni who are already contributing to public radio across the NPR Network. If you attended or currently attend an HBCU and work at an NPR Member station, we invite you to record a short video introducing yourself and sharing your connection to public radio.
