KeyFam Mentoring Program Agency / Caseworker Referral

Keystone Family Alliance is comprised of different churches around the state of Pennsylvania. We bridge the gap between needs in the child welfare system and PA churches by promoting an “everyone can do something” mindset. The goal of the Keystone Family Alliance Mentoring Program is to help isolated teens and young adults impacted by foster care experience the love of Christ through being seen, supported, and valued in a relationship with a committed Christian mentor. Research shows that one supportive adult showing up consistently in a youth's life can make a positive impact on long term outcomes, and it is our hope that the mentoring relationship will grow into an extended family kind of connection.

The KeyFam Mentoring Program is available to at risk children and youth ages 12-22 who are or have been involved in the child welfare system and who lack supportive connections and role models. Priority is given to youth living in congregate care settings or aging out/signing out of care, but other housing situations will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

All mentors involved in the program are thoroughly screened and can provide you with their completed clearances for your records. Mentors receive trauma-informed training to lay the foundation for a successful mentoring relationship and are encouraged to participate in our ongoing education opportunities. Mentors make a one-year commitment to the program, with a 2x per month minimum connection with their mentee and an openness to ongoing relationship at the end of the year should both mentor and mentee be able and willing to continue the connection.
