A. H. PANKOW was South Dakota's first publicity director and a driving force in the early days of the state's tourism industry. The A. H. PANKOW AWARD recognizes a member of the media or public relations industry who has provided exceptional coverage of South Dakota. The award was first presented in 1981.

The 2026 award will be presented on Thursday, January 21, at the 2027 South Dakota Governor's Conference on Tourism in Pierre.

Nominations are due no later than Tuesday, November 17, 2026.
