OverviewCenter for Energy and Environment (CEE) is looking to study homes in northern Minnesota that have recently installed a centrally ducted air source heat pump (ASHP). This research will support efficiency rebate programs by quantifying the field performance differences from ASHPs with different lab tested efficiency ratings. This project is funded by the Conservation Applied Research and Development (CARD) program, administered by the Minnesota Department of Commerce, Division of Energy Resources.

Selected participants will receive at least $500 for their participation.
Who is eligible?
Single-family homeowners in northern Minnesota with recently installed centrally ducted heat pumps should apply. All-electric ASHPs are preferred but not required. Participation is subject to eligibility and availability.
What does participation mean?Interested homeowners must complete a short survey to help determine eligibility. CEE will work with selected participants to schedule the 3 to 6 performance-measuring visits (each 1 to 8 hours long) to install, maintain, and remove energy-measuring sensors on their heat pump. The sensors will remain in place for up to two years to gather performance data. Participants will be asked to share historical utility usage data and provide feedback on their experience with their heat pump. How to apply
To determine if you are eligible for the project, please complete the following survey. Participation is voluntary, and you can choose not to participate at any time. The survey takes about 5 to 15 minutes to complete on a computer or mobile device. On the first page, you will be asked to upload photos of your HVAC system and electrical panel so we can assess eligibility. The remaining pages include short-answer and multiple-choice questions about you and your home.
