Libraries and International Collaboration

Welcome

Barriers to science and research cooperation, including challenges to library collaboration, are receiving increased attention internationally. IFLA wants to understand our field's perceptions and experiences of this issue better. Our focus is primarily on activities involved in research, including formal collaborations, exchanges, and engagement in conferences and international organisations.

The survey is designed to be possible to fill in very quickly, but also to leave room for those willing to share more ideas to do so. We estimate that the survey will take between 10 and 15 minutes to complete depending on the detail level of your response.

The survey looks at two different, though related, types of collaboration:
1. International science and research cooperation supported by libraries, focusing on the degree to which libraries are able to support contacts and collaboration between researchers working across borders (including in the context of open science practices);
2. International cooperation between libraries, focusing on international cooperation in LIS research (covering both exchanges of knowledge and human mobility), including international events (conferences), association engagement, and partnerships around research.
You should fill in the survey based on your own perceptions and experiences - you do not need to answer on behalf of an institution or organisation.
This survey is designed to be anonymous with no mandatory collection of IP addresses or other aspects that can identify you. Sharing your country or at least region will support more useful analysis, but we will not be identifying individual countries in any published material unless there are a sufficiently large number of respondents. You can also share your e-mail in order to get direct access to the results or in case we need to seek clarifications. This will not be used in any other way.
Data will be held within IFLA and analysed by IFLA staff, and is managed under IFLA’s Data Protection Policy

About you
2. In what type of library or library organisation are you currently engaged? Choose as many as are relevant. *This question is required.
International Scientific and Research Collaboration

This section focuses on libraries' experience of supporting collaboration between researchers, in all disciplines EXCEPT Library and Information Science. To be aware, the following section will focus on cooperation within Library and Information Science itself.
