NCARB recently released an updated
NCARB Competency Standard for Architects that includes detailed criteria for each of the 16 competencies. As NCARB volunteers explore potential new methods of assessing competency through the
Pathways to Practice initiative, the detailed criteria will ensure that candidates’ competency is evaluated consistently across all pathways to initial licensure.
To ensure that individuals completing the path to licensure have developed the knowledge and skills necessary to protect the health, safety, and welfare of the public, NCARB is asking architects to rate the importance of the criteria detailed in each competency.
On the following pages, you will be asked to rate criteria for four random competencies. For each criteria, you will be asked to rate how critical the job function is to health, safety, and welfare, as well as how frequently you perform each job function. Your feedback will help NCARB determine how significantly to weight each criteria in future licensure assessments.
