The Australian Professional Standards for Middle Leaders Online Self-reflection Tool

The Australian Professional Standards for Middle Leaders (Middle Leader Standards) are a practical guide for teachers who lead others in schools. They help middle leaders understand what good leadership looks like and support them in growing in their roles while improving teaching and learning.

AITSL defines middle leaders as qualified teachers who hold recognised management and leadership responsibilities, usually in addition to their teaching responsibilities.

This self-reflection tool is designed for middle leaders and aspiring middle leaders.

This self-reflection tool enables you to map your capabilities against the Middle Leader Standards. Once you have completed the questions, you can download a PDF of your mapping to use as a basis for goal-setting, professional development planning and growth conversations with your line manager/mentor. AITSL does not save your self-reflection responses.

This self-reflection tool must be completed on a computer. It is not suitable for completion on a mobile phone or tablet, as some of the questions may not display correctly on smaller screens. It should take approximately 30 minutes to complete and needs to be finished in one sitting.
