Primary Production NSW is an industry first music program available now to primary schools and contemporary music creators in Western Sydney. This isn’t just another music class; it's a real-world creative experience designed to mirror a professional music team. Delivered during Term 3 or 4 this year, over two immersive days, students work in small production groups with a practicing songwriter, producer, and an experienced teaching artist to take an original song from initial creative spark to a release-ready digital track. The program also creates supported paid opportunities for contemporary music creators to apply their skills in an educational context. Artists and producers: Work directly with students as creative mentors / Collaborate with teaching artists and classroom teachers / Share real-world music-making processes in an accessible way / Develop experience delivering inclusive, school-based creative learning. Other important information: Participating artists and producers will be required for two consecutive days (school hours) in term three or four / Workshops will take place onsite at government primary schools in Western Sydney, with small groups of students in years 5 and 6 (10 workshops in total) / Artists and producers will work in a team, alongside another creative and an experienced teaching artist / Applicants must be based in Western Sydney and have at least three-years of experience working in the contemporary commercial music industry / A paid half-day planning window is built into the program to brief creatives and ensure child safety training is current / Successful applicants will be fully supported to focus on guiding young people through the creative process.
