Orientation Registration: Investigating History Content Learning Partners

Investigating History logo

Thank you for your interest in becoming an Investigating History Content Learning Partner, a new opportunity from the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE). To continue to support schools and districts who are using the Investigating History curriculum, DESE is creating a directory of organizations and individuals who offer professional learning on social studies content for educators and/or experiential learning opportunities for students in alignment with topics in Investigating History. Please note that this is a separate opportunity from our current Certified Professional Development Providers, organizations that offer professional learning about Investigating History’s approach and pedagogy.

Why This Opportunity

For the past six years, DESE has been developing Investigating History, a free, inquiry-based social studies curriculum for Grades 3-7 that is fully aligned to the 2018 History/Social Science Framework. Created in collaboration with teachers, scholars, and organizations across Massachusetts, the curriculum is now in use by schools in over 100 Massachusetts districts, with many more to come in the upcoming school year. As curriculum adoption grows, DESE has heard feedback from schools and districts seeking to support educators in developing their own content knowledge and to locate high-quality experiential learning opportunities for students on relevant social studies content.

How to Apply

To apply to join our directory, we ask that you:
  1. Attend a one-time, 60-minute virtual orientation to learn more about the Investigating History curriculum. Orientations will be offered on Wednesday, June 24 at 10am or Monday, June 29 at 4pm. Please register below! Note: Current or former Investigating History certified providers as well as organizations and individuals previously involved in developing or providing feedback on Investigating History materials do not need to attend an orientation. If you fall into one of those categories, please indicate your interest below. You will receive an application form by email.
  2. Complete an application form by July 15, including information you would like listed in the directory. Applications will be reviewed based on our eligibility criteria and applicants will be notified of the status of their application by July 31.
The intention of this orientation is to provide organizations with the introduction needed to be able to better support educators and students who are using the curriculum and to identify areas of alignment. Organizations are not expected to develop new offerings specific to Investigating History.

  • provide professional learning for educators and/or experiential learning for students on social studies content that aligns with or extends upon topics in Investigating History
