2026 Avery Pinot Noir Forum - apply now

2026 Avery Forum Application Form

The Avery Forum is an amazing opportunity to taste and discuss around 40 global benchmark wines! Initiated by Greg Melick in memory of the late John Avery MW, 2026 is the twelfth presentation of this tasting event. Greg instigated this program to support the knowledge of Tasmanian makers and growers and the sector's future development. Since its inception in 2013, the tasting has focused on Pinot Noir (four years), Riesling (three years), Chardonnay (three years) before reverting to Pinot Noir last year. In 2026 the Avery Forum will again focus on Pinot Noir.

The program is open to producers making or growing Pinot Noir in Tasmania, limited to one person per business. Ten Tasmanian-based participants will be selected for the 2026 program and preference is given to representatives of Wine Tasmania wine business members. 2025 participants are ineligible to apply this year, but all other previous participants are welcome to apply.

The Avery Forum will be held on Friday 31 July 2026 at Pressing Matters Vineyard in Tea Tree - this will be a stand-alone event, with the tasting followed by an informal late lunch. Please complete and submit the brief application below by Sunday 5 July 2026. A selection committee will review applications and confirm participants by Friday 10 July 2026.

The 2026 Avery Forum will be hosted by wine writer Dave Brookes, Greg and Anthony Hall, with Greg and Anthony donating most of the wines for the tasting.
Participants are invited to bring a bottle of Pinot Noir for the tasting (or to be put into the Avery Forum cellar for a future tasting event, subject to final wine selection).

Participation fee: a subsidised fee of $300 will apply to each participant as a contribution towards Dave's travel costs, wines, room hire and catering, and participants will also need to cover any travel / accommodation costs.
