Committee Member Requirements
Applicants should work for an organization that is an NCCEP member and have experience with both GEAR UP and communications / advocacy. Directors are welcome to apply, although on-the-ground practitioners are prioritized.
Committee Meetings
The committee meets monthly via Microsoft Teams, on the
second Wednesday at 4 pm ET for 60 minutes.
Committee Member Responsibilities
Committee members should expect to contribute 1 – 2 hours per month over a
two-year term, from October 1, 2026 to September 30, 2028.
1. Serve as experts and leaders for professional development.
- Lead or support session(s) at the virtual National GEAR UP Academy.
- Lead or support session(s) or meetings at the in-person Annual Conference.
- Support other professional development opportunities as needed (e.g., webinars, Learning Labs).
- Co-create and/or update topic-related resources as needed (e.g., toolkits, Study Lab courses).
2. Engage the GEAR UP community.
- Identify relevant topics and co-facilitate one or more Discussion Labs.
- Lead or contribute to discussions and resources on the Quad.
- Amplify NCCEP communications and messaging.
- Champion national NCCEP campaigns and initiatives within your local GEAR UP community (e.g., National GEAR UP Week).
3. Advise NCCEP on programs and initiatives.
- Identify short and long-term needs of community.
- Inform strategic planning.
If a committee member doesn’t attend meetings regularly or engage in committee initiatives, NCCEP may ask them to vacate their spot prior to the end of their term to provide opportunities for another member who can be more involved.
