T2E USA NP 2026

Tech2Empower NYC/SF for Immigrant & Refugee Action
New York, NY (October 9, 2026) | San Francisco, CA (October 16, 2026)

Application deadline is July 17, 2026.

This October, Women's Alliance for Knowledge Exchange (WAKE) is hosting Tech2Empower in both New York and San Francisco — full-day, in-person programs that connect nonprofits with skilled volunteer Advisors from top companies for a day of pro-bono collaboration.

Here's how it works: your organization applies with a project you'd like support on — anything from technology, AI, and communications to marketing, administrative systems, or organizational planning. If selected, a team from your nonprofit is matched with Advisors whose expertise fits your project, and you spend the day working together to make meaningful progress on it.

The New York program takes place on October 9, 2026 and serves Tri-State area nonprofits. The San Francisco program takes place on October 16, 2026 and serves Bay Area nonprofits. Each event is standalone — apply to whichever one fits your location.

Through Tech2Empower your organization will:

  • Tackle a real project, on a topic you've proposed, with a team of Advisors from leading companies.
  • Build connections with other social impact organizations in your region.
  • Gain new allies who are invested in your mission.
Learn more about the program here.

Time Commitment: Two team members from your organization attend the full in-person collaboration day (9am–5pm) in your region.

Eligibility Requirements: To be considered for Tech2Empower NYC or SF, your organizations must:

  • Be a registered nonprofit or fiscally sponsored organization (social impact organizations without nonprofit status will be considered case-by-case).
  • Commit at least two team members to participate.
  • Be based in and/or serving the Tri-State area (for the NYC program) or the Bay Area (for the SF program).
  • Either (a) focus primarily on serving immigrant and refugee communities, or (b) propose a project that directly advances immigrant and refugee communities, even if that's not your organization's primary focus.
Selection Criteria: We select organizations based on:
  • A thoughtful application that clearly explains how the program will strengthen your work.
  • A focused project idea — in tech, finance, administration, marketing, or communications — with a clear vision for its impact.
  • Demonstrated commitment to advancing immigrant and refugee support, particularly in underserved communities.
  • Willingness to dedicate the right team members to fully engage with the program.

A note on final selection: Beyond the criteria above, we also consider project focus areas, geography, communities served, and organization size to assemble a diverse cohort.

Collaborative project: As part of your application, we'll ask you to propose a project — something that would meaningfully advance your organization's work and that you'd like dedicated support on. If selected, we'll match you with a team of Advisors whose skills are a strong fit for what you're trying to accomplish.

Again, the project should be something your team and your Advisors can realistically complete — or lay solid groundwork for — in one full day together, plus a virtual check-in.

For extra guidance: see tips and examples for crafting a strong project proposal (add link), or preview the full application before you begin. (edit)

Your contribution and commitment: WAKE offers Tech2Empower free of charge to selected nonprofits — a program valued at approximately $2,000–$3,000 in equivalent consulting hours and expertise. In return, we ask each participating organization to commit two team members to all programming and project meetings, including the in-person day and the virtual check-in.

Important program dates:

  • Priority Application deadline: June 30, 2026
  • Final Application deadline: July 17, 2026
  • Virtual Nonprofit Orientation: September 29, 2026, 10am PT / 1pm ET
  • First Full Cohort Virtual Meeting: October 5, 2026, 10am PT / 1pm ET
