The National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine are seeking nominations for a new Standing Committee on Animal Health, Conservation, and Research. This committee will focus on various issues at the intersection of animal health and their biodiversity, ecosystems, and conservation. The committee will explore research advances and their translation to decision-making, veterinary practice, health, and conservation; use of emerging technologies for studying animal health in the wild; development and use of artificial intelligence models and other computational approaches for studying animal health and welfare, ecosystems, and biodiveristy; animal welfare for wildlife-focused research activities; new approach methods for research with animals for animal health; and challenges and solutions for addressing ecosystem-level issues that include animal and human populations. This committee is not a consensus-making activity, but may produce issue papers, hold webinars, facilitate workshops, and other related activities. Written products will follow relevant National Academies' review policies.
