Wisconsin Medicaid Member Experience Council (MMEC) is a small group of people with experience using Medicaid. The group advises Wisconsin Medicaid on how to make the program better for everyone in Wisconsin. MMEC ambassadors connect with decision makers to tell them how we can do more of what’s working, and fix what’s not working.
Your experiences make you an expert
Nobody knows Medicaid better than those who rely on it for health care. The MMEC needs a new ambassador who has Medicaid benefits right now or in the last two years, or their caregiver. We are looking for someone living in one of these counties:
- Barron County
- Buffalo County
- Burnett County
- Chippewa County
- Clark County
- Douglas County
- Dunn County
- Eau Claire County
- Jackson County
- La Crosse County
- Monroe County
- Pepin County
- Pierce County
- Polk County
- Rusk County
- St. Croix County
- Trempealeau County
- Washburn County
Anyone with a ForwardHealth card has Medicaid.
We want the MMEC to represent many perspectives from all parts of Wisconsin.

Together, we’ll build trust and pave the way for change.
MMEC ambassadors attend about eight meetings each year. We hold many meetings online, but some may be in person at a day, time, and location that allows the most attendance possible. Ambassadors can attend all meetings by phone if needed. Ambassadors can bring a support person if needed. Meetings are sometimes two or three hours.
MMEC ambassadors also work together on one or two special projects during the year. The MMEC chooses these projects together with help from Medicaid staff. They talk with the Medicaid Director and staff about policies and services. They also get updates, have discussions, and ask questions.
The Medicaid Director selects the MMEC ambassadors. Ambassadors participate for three years. Read the

Once we review your application, we will send you an email or call you with more information. Applying does not guarantee that you will be chosen for the council. You can only be in one council at a time. You will be considered for all councils you apply to, but can only join one.
