Draft Falls in Adults Quality Standard: Public Feedback Survey

Ontario Health is seeking feedback on a draft quality standard on falls in adults. Quality standards outline what high-quality care looks like for conditions or processes where there are large variations in how care is delivered, or where there are gaps between the care provided in Ontario and the care patients should receive. They focus on areas for improvement, and they are grounded in the best available evidence. The care outlined in the quality standard may not reflect the care currently being delivered in Ontario, but it is achievable.

About the Falls in Adults quality standard:

This quality standard addresses care for adults aged 18 years and older who have experienced a fall or who are at risk of falling, with a focus on older adults, aged 65 years and older, and their care partners. It addresses care provided in all health care settings, including acute care, emergency, primary care, regional geriatric programs, long-term care, palliative care, and other home and community care settings, as well as referral to specialized care. The quality standard may also apply to care provided in rehabilitation, behavioural support, or specialized geriatric settings.

The patient guide for people at risk of falling or who have had a previous fall helps people know what to ask for when they are receiving care and ensure that they receive the highest-quality care. Patients and their care partners can use the patient guide to work with their clinicians and develop a care plan that works for them.
