Virtual Risk Assessment Clinic Interest Form
The Nonprofit Legal Defense Network hosts free virtual risk assessment clinics for 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations.

These clinics provide 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations with the opportunity to meet one-on-one with a trained lawyer to walk through Alliance for Justice’s Advocacy Check-Up Tool that is designed to help organizations assess their overall compliance with federal and state advocacy-related laws. 

Please note that these clinics provide clarification and general guidance on the laws and rules pertaining to nonprofit advocacy, not legal advice. 

Nonprofits interested in obtaining pro bono legal advice can complete an application on We The Action's website where, if approved, they may post a proposed project to seek help.
 
By completing the form below, you will join our list to be notified of upcoming clinics as they are scheduled. We release clinic slots on a rolling basis, and will aim to provide sign-up information for available slots to you as far in advance as possible.

Currently, we have scheduled clinics on the following dates. Please let us know which dates potentially work for your organization. We will be assigning clinic slots on a rolling basis.

10. Will you be the only person participating from your organization, or will other staff be joining you? *This question is required.
11. Before participating, you, as the nonprofit’s representative, must acknowledge that you will not be receiving legal advice during the risk assessment clinic. You are responsible for self-identifying areas where legal assistance may be needed and seeking legal assistance outside the risk assessment clinic. Nonprofits may utilize We The Action’s platform to receive pro bono legal assistance for any identified gaps in compliance. Volunteer lawyers will not provide legal advice during the risk assessment clinic.

Before proceeding with the risk assessment clinic, please read and acknowledge the following:

Lawyers participating in this clinic will not provide any legal or other advice to nonprofits. Lawyers will instead walk through a checklist on common compliance issues for nonprofits, which may allow the nonprofit representative to identify issues to address through legal counsel. Participation in these clinics does not establish an attorney-client relationship between any lawyers and nonprofits. Any discussions are not a substitute for expert legal, tax, or other professional advice regarding your nonprofit’s specific circumstances, and may not be relied upon to avoid penalties under the Internal Revenue Code or any other applicable law. Further, We The Action is not responsible for any current or future determinations regarding your compliance with any applicable rules.
