TRU Advocate of the Year Application Form Overview

Please complete this application to be considered for the 2026 TRU Advocate of the Year award. The application includes:

Background on your participation in the Tobacco Resistance Unit (TRU) program
Two short essays (up to 500 words) about:
- Personal advocacy: Think of a time you had a meaningful conversation about tobacco or vaping that helped someone rethink their views on using tobacco or nicotine products. What was your goal, what did you say or do, and what happened after the conversation? Did their opinions or behavior change?
- Creative problem-solving: Explain a time when you had limited resources (time, money, or people) for a TRU activity. How did you still make it successful?
Podcast assignment:
- Prompt: Your friend has a peer who is ready to quit vaping. Create a 2 - 3 minute podcast episode in which you give advice to that friend on how to support someone quitting.
- Students must submit:
  - Script
  - Audio clip
  - Source list
