Foster carers longitudinal study - Feb 2026

Thank you for your interest in our research into the health, wellbeing and needs of foster and kinship carers in Australia.
This study follows carers over time to better understand their experiences.Each survey asks some questions about you and your household, and some questions about your caring role.
You can read full details about the study in the participant information sheet.

If you are a registered carer of children in out-of-home care in Australia, you can take part in one of the following ways:
  • Complete a short, one-off, anonymous survey about your health and wellbeing (5 minutes), OR
  • Complete a medium-length, one-off, anonymous survey about your wellbeing and the recent under 16s social media ban (10-15 mins), OR
  • Join the longitudinal study. If you join, you will be invited to complete a survey every 6 months about your wellbeing and experiences as a carer (about 10–15 minutes).
If you join our research study, you will be asked to provide your contact details, so we can let you know when the next survey is available.

  • Complete a medium‑length, one‑off anonymous survey about your wellbeing and the under-16s social media ban (about 10–15 minutes), OR
  • Join the long‑term study. If you join, you will be asked to complete a survey every 6 months about your wellbeing and your experiences as a carer (about 10–15 minutes).
If you join the long‑term study, we will ask for your contact details so we can let you know when each new survey is ready.
