EDI stands for Equity, Diversity and Inclusion. It refers to initiatives and policies aimed at:
Equity: Creating fair and just systems by ensuring people receive the specific resources, support, access, and opportunities they need to succeed, acknowledging that individuals start from different places and may need different levels of support to achieve equitable access, participation, and outcomes.
Diversity: Ensuring meaningful representation of individuals across a wide range of identities, including (but not limited to) age, gender identity and expression, ethnicity, race, religion, sexual orientation, physical and cognitive abilities, cultural background, and country of origin etc.
Inclusion: Fostering an environment where all individuals feel valued, respected, supported, and empowered to fully participate and contribute. Inclusion ensures that diverse perspectives are actively welcomed, heard, and integrated into decision-making and everyday interactions.
The goal of the research is to better understand the barriers that people from BIPOC and other systemically marginalized communities face in the marketing profession. By identifying gaps and challenges, we aim to reduce barriers and identify opportunities to create safe, supportive and inclusive spaces for all.
