Experiences of Neurodivergence in pregnancy and early parenthood

At COPE we're passionate about ensuring all parents have the information they need for a healthy pregnancy and transition to parenthood.

Neurodivergent individuals can experience unique challenges in pregnancy, childbirth and early parenthood. While there is growing awareness of neurodivergence, little is known or understood about the impacts this can have at this life stage.

We're grateful for your thoughts about your experience, so we can draw on your valuable insights to educate health professionals and support others.

1. What type of neurodivergent condition(s) do you have or believe you may have?
2. Prior to having a baby/children, were you already aware or diagnosed with one or more of these conditions?
3. Thinking about pregnancy specifically, were any aspects of pregnancy particularly challenging due to being neurodivergent?
4. Thinking about preparing for birth and your birth experience, did being neurodivergent make any aspects of this particularly difficult or challenging?
5. Thinking about the months following birth, do you feel that any aspects of parenting or early parenthood were made more more challenging due to being neurodivergent?
8. Did you experience any mental health conditions during pregnancy or in the year after the birth of your baby?
