What is the TCRP Synthesis Program?The TCRP Synthesis Program produces state-of-the-practice documents that:
- Summarize and synthesize current knowledge and experience for transit agencies on hot topics in the industry
- Highlight approaches viewed as successful by practitioners
- Provide a practical, easy-to-use resource grounded in real-world experience
What makes a strong synthesis topic?
- Focuses on documenting current practices
- Addresses issues of broad relevance to transit agencies
- Timely and critical to improve service delivery, quality, or cost efficiency
- Reflects challenges agencies are actively addressing
Interested in submitting a topic?
Submit a topic through this TCRP Synthesis Topic Submission Portal by 11:59 p.m. EST on Friday, March 27, 2026. Review active and published TCRP synthesis topics to help inform your submission.
What happens next?
- May 2026: TCRP J-7 (Synthesis) Oversight Panel will meet to select seven topics, each funded at $75,000.
- Summer 2026: Topic panel will be formed, and Letters of Interest will be solicited.
- Fall 2026: Topic panels will meet to select a contractor to prepare the synthesis.
- Late 2027: Synthesis will be published.
