Park Pride is engaged in partnership with the
Atlanta Department of Parks and Recreation and
Urban Farm in Ormewood to create a "Vision Plan" for Red's Farm Preserve. Red’s Farm Preserve is Ormewood Park’s newest public park that isn’t actually new to the neighborhood. The seeds for this place were planted in 1991 by Brian Harrison, then a GSU student, who purchased a single property on Berne Street. By 1996, Brian, known as “Farmer Red,” was purchasing adjacent lots and reclaiming the land. A small oasis grew to become a 6-acre urban gardening haven, welcoming all. Unfortunately, Farmer Red passed away in 2022, leaving behind this bountiful community space. Now formally a City of Atlanta park the community-driven visioning process will guide Red’s Farm Preserve into the future in a way that is impactful and meaningful.
This survey will help the Park Pride team understand the wants and needs of the community. The information gathered will be used to create two preliminary concepts plans which will be presented early 2026. (If you're on mobile tap the button at the bottom of the page to begin)
