Review of the draft United by Nature assessment: Call for Experts

About the Activity & the Call for Experts

Learn more about the activity here

The United by Nature Assessment is designed to be "a holistic assessment of U.S. lands, waters, and wildlife, and the benefits they provide." The National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine is seeking suggestions for experts to conduct an independent technical review of the draft of the United by Nature assessment report. Using these suggestions, National Academies staff will build a committee of approximately 12-16 volunteer experts in addition to collecting information for potential peer reviewers for any publications resulting from the activity.

The committee is scheduled to complete its report within five months of receipt of the draft report, and the review will be concurrent with the public review period. Individuals who have been contributors to the UBN in any of the following roles are not eligible to serve on this ad hoc review committee: authors or chapter leads, board of advisors, former authors, technical contributors, or secretariat.

The National Academies value a wide range of perspectives to strengthen the quality of our work. We carefully consider alternative viewpoints when formulating advice, convening experts with differing experience and perspectives, providing oversight, and conducting all other activities, and strive to foster an environment where all can participate fully. We welcome your suggestions for a broad range of experts to work with us.

We invite you to submit your suggestions by December 15, 2025 AT 11:59 PM.
