Civic Participation Projects 2026

Background

Parliament of Victoria, in partnership with Neighbourhood Houses Victoria, is offering grant funding for Neighbourhood Houses to promote and provide education around civic participation and democracy in their communities.

The aim of this partnership is to increase community understanding and confidence in:
  • Civic participation
  • Democratic process
  • Advocacy
  • Civic leadership
We welcome creative approaches to the subject matter, and hope to reach a broad spectrum of demographics and areas with this program.

Through the generosity of the Parliament of Victoria, Neighbourhood Houses across rural, regional, and metro Victoria can apply for grants up to $5,000 to run programs or events.

There are 2 streams of grants available, with a total of $45,000 funding available.
  • Stream 1: Up to $2,000 ex GST
  • Stream 2: $2,001 $5,000 ex GST
Please consider the anticipated costs of your project and outline them in detail in your application. If there is insufficient evidence to support a Stream 2 application, you may be offered a Stream 1 funding amount.

A maximum of five Stream 2 funding places will be offered, with the additional funding going to Stream 1 projects.

You will need to be a member of NHVic to be eligible to apply.

Applications for the grant open Monday 1 December 2025 and will close 5pm Friday 30 January 2026. Applicants will be informed about the outcome by early March.

Grant recipients need to run the project between 1 April 2026 and 20 June 2026.

Successful grant recipients must provide NHVic with information about the outcomes, photos, and case stories from their projects by 30 June 2026. The data will be used by NHVic to compile a final report on behalf of all successful grant recipients.
