Activist Training Camp 2026

The SEIU-West Education Department is pleased to invite you to apply for Activist Training Camp in Saskatoon on May 28th, 2026.

This course is designed for any SEIU-West member who is interested in expanding their activism in the social justice community.

The goal of this one-day course is for participants to learn, understand and engage on:

Examining what makes an activist
Smart goals
Developing your campaign
Alliances/Campaign recruitment
Communications and staying on message
Talking to the public and members
The art of protest and points of intervention

Your union will cover the costs of up to 25 participants. Expenses will be reimbursed to a maximum of one-day for lost wages/honorarium, and applicable mileage, meals and accommodations based on our policies. These courses are in-person, and those selected to attend will receive an email confirmation after the deadline.

We’d love to have you attend our course, but if you indicated that you are on Short-Term Disability or Workers Compensation, it’s risky for members to attend. If you don’t claim the income from coming to the conference correctly, they may charge you with fraud and cause you to never qualify for either WCB or DIP again. You also need to ensure that attending this course fits within your abilities and is approved by your Disability Worker, etc.
