Security and Protective Services - National Occupational Standard Consultation

Introduction

Skills for Justice has been commissioned by the NOS Governance Group to carry out a review of three suites of National Occupational Standards (NOS) from Security and Protective Services.

This review includes the following suites:

  • Addressing and Responding to Honour Based Violence
  • Addressing Stalking
  • Addressing Modern Slavery

National Occupational Standards (NOS) describe the knowledge, skills and understanding needed to do a particular job to a nationally recognised level of competence.

These 3 NOS suites were developed between 2015 and 2020 in response to legislation. The Domestic Abuse and Sexual Violence NOS were reviewed in 2022–23.

Given the strong focus on domestic abuse in England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, and the shift toward trauma-informed practice, these three related NOS suites are now being reviewed to eliminate duplication and ensure they remain fit for purpose

To ensure that all stakeholders have the opportunity to contribute feedback and input to the final versions of these NOS, Skills for Justice are now carrying out a public consultation.

When completing the survey, please select the NOS you wish to review. You do not need to review the whole suite

This should take no longer than 30 - 40 minutes. Please help us by contributing to this consultation.

The deadline for the consultation is at midday on Friday, 19th December 2025.

The links to the NOS are placed at the relevant sections throughout this survey. However, if you require a word version of these documents please email Competences@skillsforhealth.org.uk

Thank you for taking part.
