The National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine is seeking suggestions for experts to participate in a new study on Improving Command Climate, Unit Cohesion, and Warfighter Readiness. This study will examine the relationship between leadership, command environment, and operational readiness, and produce actionable tools that military and unit leaders can use to promote positive command environments. The committee will conduct a thorough review of existing research, evaluate current methods used by the military, identify promising practices and opportunities for enhanced impact, and develop actionable insights and recommendations to strengthen leadership strategies in support of operational readiness. This effort will produce actionable findings and recommendations that provide clear, tangible insights for military leaders and policymakers, enabling them to implement targeted reforms that strengthen unit cohesion, esprit de corps, and ultimately, operational effectiveness.
