Advice and Guidance - National Occupational Standard Consultation

Introduction

Skills for Justice has been commissioned by the NOS Governance Group to carry out a review of the Advice and Guidance suite of National Occupational Standards (NOS).

National Occupational Standards (NOS) describe the knowledge, skills and understanding needed to do a particular job to a nationally recognised level of competence.

The need for this project has arisen following changes in demand for services, working practices and language since these NOS (National Occupational Standards) were last reviewed in 2015. With extra demand on IAG (Information, Advice and Guidance) services arising from the covid pandemic and the financial crisis, the skills for those working and volunteering in these services are changing and it is more important than ever to make sure the NOS reflect current practice.

To ensure that all stakeholders have the opportunity to contribute feedback and input to the final versions of these NOS, Skills for Justice are now carrying out a public consultation.

When completing the survey, please select the NOS you wish to review. You do not need to review the whole suite (19).

If you wish to review several of these NOS you can complete the survey more than once, reviewing different NOS on each occasion.

This should take no longer than 30 - 40 minutes. Please help us by contributing to this consultation.

The deadline for the consultation is at midday on Friday, 12th December 2025.

The links to the NOS are placed at the relevant sections throughout this survey. However, if you require a word version of these documents please get in touch.

Thank you for taking part.
