The Academy is offering a $1,000 grant to five Young Ophthalmologist Academy members to support the Academy's initiative aimed at reducing carbon footprint and making ophthalmology more sustainable for the future.
Young Ophthalmologists are physicians who are in ophthalmic residency, ophthalmic fellowship, or their first five years of ophthalmic practice. They play a vital role in advancing climate action and fostering a sustainable future.
We invite you to submit research proposals for enhancing ophthalmic practice that can lead to solutions that reduce waste and costs, either in the clinic or in the operating room. Proposals should be feasible to implement, be scalable, and have a broad impact on the field of ophthalmology.
The selection criteria include the following:
- Experience of the principal investigator
- Potential impact on sustainability and reducing the carbon footprint
- Feasibility for application to ophthalmic practice, either in the clinic or the operating room
- Uniqueness/Creativity of the proposal
The deadline for submitting proposals is January 2, 2026. Grant winners will be announced by January 31, 2026.
