Wisconsin Long Term Care Advisory Council (LTCAC) or the
IRIS Advisory Committee (IAC).
About the LTCAC
The LTCAC is an advisory body to the Wisconsin Department of Health Services (DHS) about existing and emerging aging, disability, and long-term care systems issues. Council members provide advice and make recommendations to the DHS Secretary regarding long-term care policy, programs, and services.
Every two years, the DHS Secretary issues charges for the LTCAC. There are currently three
LTCAC Charges which include efforts to:
1. Develop a long-term vision and strategic plan for the long-term care system.
2. Enhance and improve the quality of Medicaid long-term care programs.
3. Strengthen the workforce, both paid and unpaid, to ensure access to long-term care.
About the IAC
IRIS (Include, Respect, I Self-Direct) is a Medicaid program for adults who need long-term care services. The advisory committee provides feedback to DHS staff about the IRIS program. Committee members must be IRIS participants or their supported or legal decision makers. They present ideas, opinions, or facts to improve the IRIS program.
Who should apply
DHS will select members for the LTCAC and IAC who represent many perspectives from all parts of Wisconsin. They will have experience with the people and issues of Wisconsin's long-term care programs. We encourage Wisconsinites from all backgrounds to apply.

The IAC is only recruiting IRIS participants or their supported or legal decision makers. Only apply to the IAC if you are a current IRIS participant or the supported or legal decision maker for a current IRIS participant.

By completing and submitting this application, you agree:
- You are: a person living with a disability; an older adult; a caregiver; a service provider; an advocate; or expert in the field of aging, disability, healthcare or long-term care with an interest in creating a high quality long-term care system for all Wisconsinites.
- To participate in six virtual meetings each year and travel to Madison for meetings that are hosted in-person. (Note: At this time, all 2027 meetings are planned to be virtual.)
- To participate and share your time and expertise by actively participating in the meetings.
- To actively listen to fellow members and respect people when sharing their experiences.
- To read and agree to the terms in the charter(s).
