3. Preparedness: I understand that this trip requires good aerobic conditioning, balance, and the skills and gear to hike appropriately and with confidence for up to 7-9 miles per day and elevation gains of 3-4000 feet, and to hike for multiple days in a row. I certify that I will be prepared with the experience, skills, conditioning, and gear to meet the requirements of the trip.

4. Route: I understand that hikes on this trip will involve some steep, rocky, muddy, root-covered, uneven terrain, and some sections with moderate exposure (e.g. narrow ridgeline with steep dropoffs, traverses across steep crumbly scree slopes). I understand that i may have to use my hands on some of the terrain. I certify that I am capable of moving at a steady 2-2.5 mph pace across this kind of terrain and will be ready to provide references who can attest to my confidence on this kind of terrain.

5. Accommodations: I understand that this trip will require sharing of bedrooms with 1-2 other people in our party who I may not initially know, as well as bunk rooms shared with as many as 20 others, including people of different genders and people outside our party.

6. Food: I understand that the variety of food available and the ability to meet special dietary preferences will be limited.

7. Travel Documents: I understand that I will be required to hold up-to-date travel documents, international medical insurance, and emergency evacuation insurance for the trip, at my own expense. The evacuation insurance should be sufficient to get me back to the hospital of my choice in the United States.

8. Teamwork: I understand that this is a group trip and that participants will look out for and support each other on the trail. Pace, daily start-end times, route and side trips will be driven by the needs of the group and conditions on the ground.

9. Leadership: I understand that safety and well-being of participants comes first and the itinerary and route may change without prior notice based on conditions. While participant input will be valued, the Mountaineers trip leader will be the ultimate decision maker.

10. Responsibility: I understand that the Mountaineers trip leaders are not guides and that I am responsible for knowing the route and where I am along the way at all times.

11. Fitness and Medical Conditions: I commit to providing a doctor’s certification of medical fitness if requested, and to disclose to the leader and outfitter in advance of the trip about any recent injuries, surgeries, allergies, medications or medical conditions that could impact me on the trip.

12. Behavior: I commit to behave during the trip in a careful and safe manner, to communicate to the leader promptly about any illness or injury, and to put my health and safety and that of my fellow group members first even if this means having to turn around or exit the trip early.

I commit to follow the Mountaineers Global Adventures Respiratory Illness policy to support everyone in the group staying healthy and not passing illness on to other group members during the trip!

Participants and leader(s) must be fully vaccinated to participate in the trip. This includes the most recent boosters that the participant is eligible for.
In addition, participants are asked to practice conservative covid behavior before and during transit to the trip including masking at airport and in planes and avoiding crowded indoor spaces whenever possible.
Participants and leader(s) are expected to self-test proactively during the trip if they experience a symptom commonly related to COVID. Participants will need to let the leader know so that the leader can monitor. Any positive test or significant contagious symptoms will mean that the participant will need to wear a mask and isolate from the rest of the group members as much as possible until they no longer have a fever and their symptoms have mostly gone away (this could include moving them, or their roommate, out of a shared hotel room or tent, or temporarily tripling-up another room with their roommate, or if symptoms are severe enough, may be asked to stay at a nearby lodging while the group goes on.).

I understand that in general, refunds will not be available once I have paid my deposit and registered for the trip. I further understand that, if I must cancel but am able to find a replacement well in advance of the trip departure, I may be able to get a refund of some or all of my prior trip payments less a $100 administrative fee and any non-refundable or incremental costs associated with your cancellation; this option is only available up to a month before the trip departs, after which I will not be eligible for any refund.
