GERD is a condition where stomach contents flow back (reflux) into the esophagus (the muscular tube that connects the mouth and the stomach, allowing food to pass into the stomach). Heartburn and/or regurgitation are common symptoms associated with GERD. Most people describe heartburn as a burning sensation behind their breastbone in their chest that may radiate towards their neck and throat. GERD is treated with lifestyle modification, weight loss, and medications, such as proton pump inhibitors (PPIs).
In this survey we hope to better understand the illness experience of those with GERD
